Hi Burnside Elim,
I hope you are enjoying your week and looking forward to the long weekend.
I wanted to do a quick review of last weeks message and add a couple of things.
We started talking about some Kingdom characteristics. We talked about having an increasing appreciation.
So whatever level of appreciation you are at there is always more. There are more opportunities for you to send a little note to somebody, a card to somebody a positive affirmation of something. Why, because we commit to doing the work of God proud.
Here’s another verse. 1 Corinthians 15: 57 But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The thought is, if you want victory it has to be on the foundation of thanks. If you want to see the positive side of life, if you want to see God breakthrough on your behalf it begins with thanks. And appreciation is literally that. It’s taking that sense of thanks and making it public. You can’t appreciate internally. There is no such thing. Because if you carry appreciation internally it will always be expressed externally. Appreciation has an action attached to it. It is not just a feeling, it can’t just live within you.
v58 therefore my beloved brethren be steadfast, immovable…
How many would agree, some mornings we wake up and we don’t feel like abounding. But actually it’s a command, …always abounding in the work of the Lord knowing that your labour is not in vain. In other words, you embrace a spirit of appreciation then your work will not die
The second thought is that we need to have a choice for excellence. Again excellence is not perfection but excellence is doing the best with what we have, its always reaching that other level always going beyond mediocrity. A quote I heard once by William Fowble “Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
And then the third thing we talked about is that we have a commitment to carry the cause. In season and out of season. That no matter what comes along our way we are completely committed to the cause.
I look forward to seeing you all this weekend. If you are travelling, I pray safety upon you.
